Search backends¶
DMS can use different search backends. It tries the configured backend and falls back when necessary.
Backends¶
- Meilisearch — preferred when configured.
- Elasticsearch — used when Meilisearch is not available.
- MySQL FULLTEXT — fallback when neither external backend is available.
The backend covers document search and OCR text when OCR is enabled.
Configure search¶
Administrators configure the search backend and search modes in Administration → Search configuration and Configuration.
Reindex¶
After changing the backend or after a large import, rebuild the search index. Use the maintenance action or the worker job provided by your deployment.
Troubleshooting¶
- No results: check the backend health, the index, and the user's permissions.
- Stale results: rebuild the index.
- OCR missing: check the OCR job and the document text extraction.
- Slow search: check the backend resources and the query.
