Preview

Preview opens a document in the browser so you can read it without downloading a copy first.

What can be previewed

Type How it is shown
PDF The browser's own PDF viewer, with pages, zoom, and search
Images (JPG, PNG, GIF, TIFF) A thumbnail in the list and a larger view in the preview
Office (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX) Converted to PDF by the preview service, then shown like a PDF
Audio A player with play, pause, and seek
Text Shown as plain text

Anything else falls back to Download. A conversion that fails also falls back to download instead of showing a broken viewer.

Preview a document

  1. Open the document panel, or a row in Documents.
  2. Choose Preview.
  3. Read it, zoom, and move between pages.
  4. Close the viewer to return to the panel.

Download and print

  • Download saves the original file, in its original format. It requires documento:descargar.
  • Print uses the browser's print dialog when the viewer supports it; for Office files it prints the converted PDF.

Downloads are recorded in the activity log: a document can show who opened a copy.

When preview is not available

Symptom Cause
The button is missing Your role lacks read permission, or the document is deleted
"Download instead" The file type has no preview, or conversion failed
Office file shows as a download The conversion service is not configured for the workspace
Large file takes a while The file is streamed from storage; page-by-page navigation is faster after the first pages load

If a preview keeps failing for one type while others work, the conversion service is the likely cause — report it with the document number rather than the file.
